Wrapping up a £4.5m communications project

Comms Campaign for District Council Garden Waste Licence Subscription 2025 Case Study Cover

I’ve just completed one of my biggest communications projects so far and I’m really proud of how smoothly it all went. I led the 2025–26 garden waste subscription communications campaign for three district councils: Forest of Dean, Cotswold and West Oxfordshire.

This was a huge project. I delivered a high-impact multi-channel campaign which included 132,000 emails and 43,000 letters sent. The results included almost 80,000 licences sold generating £4.5m in turnover, with increased digital sign-ups and reduced call centre demand.

My role was to oversee the end-to-end project management, making sure every stage ran to plan. From developing the strategy and timeline, to managing the delivery, I kept everything on track. Careful planning, tight sequencing and regular reviews of progress against goals were key, allowing us to make tweaks at the right time and keep momentum strong throughout the campaign window.

The results speak for themselves: high uptake across all three districts, increased online sign-ups (helping reduce pressure on call centres) and strong engagement across multiple channels.

It was a complex project, with lots of moving parts and a very short window to deliver results, but it showed just how much impact a clear strategy, tight planning and great collaboration can achieve.

This campaign has been a milestone for me and a reminder of how much I enjoy managing large-scale communications projects that deliver real, measurable outcomes.
